Innovation Prize of the City of Leipzig with Record Result
Biotectid GmbH awarded main prize for the product with the best world market capability
On November 12, more than 700 guests met at "Rübesams Da Capo" to honor the winners of this year's innovation prize of the city of Leipzig. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the innovation prize for the best independent product with world market capability
The award, which included a prize money of DM 20,000 (about 10,000 euros), went to Biotectid GmbH Leipzig for their development of a diagnostic method for early detection of rheumatism.
Five special awards made this year's competition even more interesting: Nutzwerk GmbH Leipzig was awarded the "Roland Berger special prize for the best value added model New Economy/Old Economy" (prize money DM 20,000) for their technology to improve data security in the internet that can be applicated globally. The "Peter Jungen special award for the most successful business establishment from a university", which included a prize money of DM 5,000, went to Advanced Acoustix GmbH for a sonometer that measures distances with ultrasound in an accuracy unrivaled so far. Winner of the "Sparkasse Leipzig special prize for the smartest idea" (DM 4,000) was PC-Ware Information Technologies AG with "elicensing®", a software management system for cost-efficient use and distribution of software.
Together with the innovation prize, the "IHK recognition prize for high technology with a future" (DM 4,000) was given away for the first time. It was awarded to IOT GmbH (Innovative Surface Technologies) Leipzig. The company has developed an ion beam source that has been designed especially for the demands of industrial production of electronic construction elements. The "Special prize of the Chamber of Handicrafts for the best handicraft development" was awarded to Holz Bau Erler. They have developed a new method for surface refinement and conservation of wood.
By September 9, the Business & Innovation Centre (BIC) Leipzig had received 143 applications. This is an increase of about 12 percent compared to last year.
