Germany – the first Live Invention

Inventors of Nutzwerk GmbH from Halle (Saale) made the first live invention in Germany during their office opening party in Leipzig.

Every visitor had the chance to tell Nutzwerk a problem in the internet which they would like to get solved. Between 5 pm and 6:30 pm, Nutzwerk chose one task based on criteria like patentability, novelty, and feasibility. The solution, together with the program flow, was presented to the excited audience by Nutzwerk's managing director Rene Holzer at around 9:30 pm.

Altogether 15 tasks were submitted. Most have them have already been realized by other developers, though mostly unknown. One applicant, for example, wanted to be notified automatically whenever internet pages he was interested in are updated. Others wanted a person to move deceptively realistic through 3D worlds by means of a two-dimensional picture. Also the task 'I'd like to be informed when my child switches on the computer at home' proved to be too easy for Nutzwerk. On the other hand some tasks were too difficult, like 'inserting a chip into somebody's brain to retrieve information on demand from remote servers'.

Nutzwerk decided to find a solution for: "I never again want to see the internet message: 'This page is not available!'"

While the party went on, a few people from Nutzwerk developed the solution behind a glass wall – at the same time programming its realization. With this invention internet users will never again read something like: 'File not found', 'Error 404' or 'This page is not available!'

The invention is based on Nutzwerk's patented solution of scanning data streams in the internet in real-time. The filter now identifies all error messages that are delivered by the browser or proxy server of the provider. If an error type is recognized, a predefined action will be executed. For example, the error message 'Page not found' triggers an error-tolerant search on the user input. The returned values are checked for their availability and presented to the user for selection. This way, the user can reach the internet address www.worldnews.com, even if he entered www.worlnews.com.

The filter for faulty queries will be integrated into Nutzwerk's security solution SaferSurf. SaferSurf can be used directly through any provider. There is no need to install additional software. If SaferSurf is used, users will never have to see cryptic error pages again.
